Sometimes lung cancer doesn't cause any signs or symptoms. When it does cause symptoms, they are often similar to other lung conditions. Dr. Patel, can you tell us about some of the symptoms of lung cancer?

Certainly, Dr. Green. Common symptoms of lung cancer include:

  • A cough that doesn't go away or gets worse over time
  • Trouble breathing
  • Wheezing
  • Blood in sputum, which is the mucus coughed up from the lungs
  • Weight loss for no known reason
  • Hoarseness
  • Loss of appetite
  • Feeling very tired
  • Trouble swallowing
  • Swelling in the face and/or veins in the neck, and
  • Chest discomfort or pain
